Common Questions

Q: How do you know what mushroom will grow?

A: Just like planting seeds for plants, you can predict that the species grown out of the log will be what's been planted in the log.

Q: How Long from when the logs are Inoculated (the mushroom planted in the log) can I expect to see mushrooms.

A: It varies on the species, Oysters can take 6 months, lions mane can take 2 years.

Q: How Long Will the logs produce mushrooms for?

A: the first two seasons will be the largest flushes or fruitings, however some sources have reported logs still producing for 5 years.

Q: Will I need to water these like plants?

A: NO. The major work is up front. However during the time where the Mycelium(the mushroom body moving through the wood) spreads through the log you will want to lay neatly near ground. During fruiting they will want to be stacked like log cabins. For Winter they should be layed back closer to the ground to keep damp.

Q: What If I don't want to maintain them?

A: We will happily take care of that for you with a maintenance agreement!

Q: Can I just do this myself?

A: Absolutely. It's like mowing the lawn, laying pavers, cleaning gutters, or setting up a vegetable garden, It takes the right tools, knowhow, and alot of effort. We are here to do the work so you don't have to.

Q: How many mushrooms can I get from a log?

A: Weather and species of log and mushroom varies, but a 4' log thats 6" thick you can expect 1 lb for the first few flushes(when mushrooms grow out of the logs) Flushes can however last for years.
